Vintage Casio DW-5600C
This Casio G-Shock was originally built in the 1980's. The watch was still fully functional but after many years of service, the resin had become brittle and fallen off which allowed the crystal to become scratched. A very common problem with older G-shocks.

Using a pillar drill and a very fine drill bit, the old screw was removed without damaging the threads of the case. A very tricky and time consuming operation!

Each separate pusher was removed and inspected for wear and damage. Sometimes the shaft of a pusher can be bent and the o-rings can become dry and brittle. When this happens, the case will likely no longer be water resistant.

The original crystal was then polished using a diamond paste. Great care was taken not to build up too much heat while polishing to avoid "de-laminating" the printing on the underside of the crystal.

The bezel screws on vintage steel cased G-shocks often seize and can break off in the case. This is what had happened previously and someone had just tried to glue the screw head in place.

A new bezel screw was sourced and was able to be located securely into the case. This would allow the new resin bezel to be fitted correctly without having to be damaged by stretching it over old, seized screws.

The pusher was cleaned and the shaft was straightened. Each pusher was then re-assembled with the o-rings being lubricated with silicone grease to allow trouble free operation for years to come.

After re-assembling the pushers, module and new resin, this old G-Shock looked as good as new and was ready to be returned to the customer!
